It’s time for families to prioritize social responsibility for future generations
The quarantine of 2020 disconnected our communities not only from each other, but from the sources of aid that they relied on, such as thrift stores and food banks (remember that day when the world shut down?)
In June of 2020, we created a virtual free marketplace to find local people who could benefit from the items we already had to donate. Little did we know that WLA would grow weekly by the hundreds, reaching other states and distant countries!
In the following months, we realized that unlike donating to a thrift store, seeing the faces of the families and individuals who we were giving to changes not only their lives, but ours. When we can meet face to face, voice to voice, simply with the hope to make someone's life a little better, our hearts open and we begin to erase the differences that divide us.
And so, the mission to become a nonprofit mobilize our community began!
WLA isn't just another donation center or community resource. It's not just a place to drop off your stuff and move on with your life. Our goal is to make it easy for YOU, your kids, your friends and your neighbors to make a difference in someone's life no matter how busy, broke or broken you are.
Whether you're passing on clothes your kids have outgrown, Marie Kondo-ing your home and decluttering your garage, feeding a family with an Amazon grocery delivery or helping us pick up and deliver items, there is no greater expression of love than a simple selfless act of kindness.
Regardless of status, background, race, color or political opinions... WLA is determined to unite our world and restore the faith, hope and love that we all so desperately need!
Everything we do is a complete overflow of our relationship with Jesus Christ. We believe He is the Son of God and that He came to save us from our sin without any questions or judgement.
Sacrificing His life and reputation for us, even when we didn't deserve it, is the TRUE MEANING OF LOVE. Laying down our own lives (and comforts) for the good of a complete stranger. There is nothing greater. If you're looking for the answer to the darkness in this world, this is it. Love your neighbor as yourself. We are better together!
Boris & Mary Nastukov have been through their share of battles in both their individual and their married lives. Together they are overcoming (one day at a time) bankruptcy, addiction, divorce, depression, anxiety, abuse, and so many other deeply personal battles.
Through the life-changing grace, love and mercy of a good good God, they have not just experienced miracle after miracle for themselves, but want to bring the miracle to others facing impossible battles.
Their mission is to remind the world that there is HOPE in Jesus... RESTORATION in Jesus... and NEW LIFE in Jesus! All it takes is one act of kindness spreading like wildfire throughout our neighborhoods. All it takes is learning to love each other well... Who's with us?
